At a distance of 3.5 Kms from Bangalore City Railway Station, Vikasa Soudha, is one of the best buildings that Karnataka government has built. This building is situated just next to Vidhana Soudha. It is the Secretariat building of Karnataka government.

This is a dream project of former Chief Minister SM Krishna. The construction of the building was initiated in 2001. It was built to house numerous government and legislative offices which would in turn take away the load from the Vidhana Soudha. It was built over a land area of about 8 acres. The building comprises eight floors housing 15 conference halls, 360 rooms. The granite with the fantastic stone carvings was chosen from stone pits concentrated at Mallasandra, Hesaraghatta, Koira & Avalahalli.

Vikasa Soudha incorporates some of the most modern facilities not seen in any of the other legislative buildings across the country. A grid interactive solar power system, Rainwater harvesting has been adapted.
