Guinness World Record Sea Shell Art Museum - History, Timings & Entry Fee

At a distance of 6 km from Mysore Railway Station, the Guinness World Record Sea Shell Art Museum is a private museum located on Chamundi Hill Road in Mysore. Situated near the Sand Sculpture Museum, it is a one-of-a-kind museum that can be visited as part of Mysore holiday packages.

Sea Shell Art Museum in Mysore is established & maintained by Smt. Radha Mallappa. The museum consists of different places, sculptures, statues, figures, and people built entirely from seashells. There are 160 models on display and Radha Mallappa has spent nearly Rs.4 crore on making these lovely pieces using seashells and conchs.

The museum's main attraction is a 22-foot-tall Lord Ganesha sculpture made with seashells and conchs. This is the world's largest seashell sculpture and is recognized by Guinness World Records as the greatest seashell sculpture that can be seen in the museum. The museum also houses the 14 feet high Shiva Mandir, foot 9.5, feet Tajmahal and many idols, like Lord Mahalakshmi, Saraswathi, Ganapathi, Yadiyuru Siddalingeshwara, Hanuman in Ravan's Durbar, Kalinga Mardhana, Buddha under Bodhi tree, Dashavathara, etc.

In addition to exhibits made of shells and conchs, one can also see a variety of beautiful artwork made of waste materials. The other attractions here are lovebirds made out of paddy grains, a family of crows made out of hair, and dinosaurs blooming out of a nib. Besides, the museum has a corner dedicated to selling jewelry and accessories made entirely of seashells, which are characterized by different colors and designs.
