Government Botanical Garden - History, Timings & Entry Fee

At a distance of 1 km from Munnar Bus Stand, Government Botanical Garden is a well-maintained garden in Munnar. Located on Munnar - Thekkady Road, it is one of the must-include places in Munnar tour packages.

The Government Botanical Garden is a fully lush green environment adorned with a variety of plants. The tourism department has spent around Rs 4.5 crore on developing this park to provide entertainment with leisure and knowledge for developing the tourists. In the initial stage of the project, the garden was developed in an area of around 5 acres.

The garden houses around 150 varieties of flowering plants, an open theater, beautiful landscapes, walkways, a canteen, a souvenir shop, and spice shops. It is a perfect place for jogging, photography, and outings. Medicinal plants and rare plants are also available in this garden. It is a perfect place for those who love nature and spend some time in solitude. The park attracts many photographers as well.
