At a distance of 8 km from Munnar Bus Stand, Punarjani Traditional Village is a performing arts theater located in Pallivasal area of Munnar. It is one of the offbeat places to visit in Munnar.

Punarjani Traditional Village is a performing arts theater where you can watch live performances of two traditional art forms of Kerala. Punarjani means rebirth, and this cultural center aims to revitalize the long-aged traditions of Kerala. Visitors can watch the performances of Kathakali - the classical dance form, and Kalaripayattu - one of the deadliest martial arts in India.

Kathakali shows feature a proficient performance, presenting a blend of storytelling, music, and dance. In this show, a person narrates a story from the Hindu epics or folk tales, and Kathakali artists act and dance using their hands and facial gestures to portray their emotions and expressions. Also, the musicians play traditional musical instruments in the background. Kalaripayattu is the local martial art form in which two or more fighters perform on the stage showing their attacking and defending moves, running around, doing somersaults, and extreme physical stunts for the fight. This fight show takes place in a separate combat arena, featuring various handheld weapons, including swords, spears, & daggers. Fire stunts are also performed.

Visiting the Punarjani Art & Culture Center is one of the best things to do in Munnar. It is best suited for art and culture enthusiasts. It allows them to witness the cultural heritage and tradition of the state, through some entertaining performances. The center also offers various Ayurvedic massage & calming therapy sessions.
