At a distance of 13 km from Munnar Bus Stand, Malayil Kallan Guha, popularly known as Rock Cave, is a small cave located along the Munnar - Thekkady Road in Kerala. It is one of the most frequently visited Munnar tourist places.

Malayil Kallan Guha is the Malayalam name for Rock Cave, which means Upon the Mountain Thief Cave. According to the legend, many years ago, a thief called Malayil Kallan lived in this cave who used to loot travelers passing through this route. It is just opposite the Lockhart Gap, which provides some breathtaking views of Munnar town, soaked in fumes of clouds and mist, and the surrounding mountains and valleys.

The cave is pretty narrow but is about 15 feet tall. One can easily walk through it, and explore the cave. Local authorities have built some concrete steps so that people can easily enter the cave. There is no light inside, so people have to use a flashlight or a mobile phone light to see inside. There is a refreshment shop on the opposite side of the cave that sells coffee, tea, tender coconut, juice, snacks, noodles, omelets, etc. If you are heading to Thekkady, this is a good place to have a quick break, have a hot tea, and get ready for the long and scenic drive to Thekkady.
