Travel Tips: Trip to Thoovanam Waterfalls takes around 6 hours from Munnar and 4 hours from Marayoor.

At a distance of 50 Kms from Munnar and 10 Kms from Marayoor, Thoovanam waterfalls are one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kerala. It is located inside Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary near Kerala - Tamil Nadu boarder. This is one of the best among Munnar places to visit and also a popular trekking trail in Munnar. The falls are formed by Pambar River. This is another popular attraction not to miss in a Munnar Tour package.

At a distance of 4 Kms from Alampetty Junction Checkpost on Munnar - Udamalpet Road, Thoovanam waterfalls is also a popular trekking route in Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. This cascading falls is a wonderful place to enjoy the nature, dip & swim in the crystal clear water of Pambar River.

The waterfall has to be reached by 4 Kms trek from Alampetty Checkpost, which is situated on Munnar - Udalampet highway and connected by buses from Munnar. The Thoovanam waterfalls trip is a guided trek (forest guides must be accompanied) and usually takes 2-3 hours from the checkpost. The trek is arranged between 7 AM to 10 AM and 3 PM to 6 PM. This is a moderate level trek through dense forest amidst serene environment. The trek to the falls also provide a great opportunity for animal sighting. Thoovanam falls one of the best waterfalls in Kerala.

Accommodation is available inside the sanctuary in Forest guesthouse, Treetop houses and log houses. Accommodation can be booked in advance (The Wildlife Warden, Munnar, Ph: 04865-231587) or from the forest office at the sanctuary entrance. Dormitory is also available.

Thoovanam Falls (2-3 hours): 7 AM to 10 AM and 3 PM to 6 PM
Guided Trekking Fee: Rs. 200 per person for Indians & Rs. 300 for Foreigners
