The Ekta Nagar Rainforest serves as a tropical eco-tourism and nature-learning destination situated in proximity to the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar (Kevadia), one of the must-include places in Gujarat tour packages<\/a>. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31st as part of the \u2018Rashtriya Ekta Diwas\u2019 celebrations, marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. During this event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited the Statue of Unity in Kevadia and pay tribute to the Iron Man of India.<\/p>\n

About the Rain Forest<\/h2>\n

The Rain Forest project aims to enhance the variety of attractions at Ekta Nagar, which is the site of the Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world and among the must-include places in Kevadiya tour packages<\/a>. Covering an area of 47,000 square metres (approximately 12 acres), it was built with an estimated investment ranging from Rs. 9.49 crore to Rs. 14.30 crore. This rainforest has been meticulously designed to exhibit plant species indigenous to the evergreen forests of the Western Ghats, the Himalayas, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is expected that the rainforest will foster eco-tourism and booster the local economy while offering opportunities for students, researchers, and nature enthusiasts to explore biodiversity and environmental studies. Furthermore, the facility is also intended to promote environmental awareness and encourage responsible tourism.<\/p>\n

Main Highlights of the Rain Forest<\/h2>\n

Spanning 12 acres, the Ekta Nagar rainforest offers an immersive experience of a rainforest ecosystem, highlighting the richness and diversity of India\u2019s tropical evergreen forests. It provides a monsoon-like atmosphere year-round through artificial rainfall generated by 20 rain-gun towers, enabling visitors to enjoy a monsoon environment even outside the rainy season. The area also features bubble fountains, cascading waterfalls, and trees sourced from various regions of India, including the Western Ghats, the Himalayas, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.<\/p>\n

A key attraction at the newly established rainforest in Ekta Nagar, located in Gujarat\u2019s Narmada district, is a 220-metre-long glass-deck skywalk. This circular glass walkway incorporates 132 Korean glass panels, each with a thickness of 35 mm. The elevated structure allows visitors to gaze down through the transparent surface while taking in views of the surrounding rainforest scenery.<\/p>\n

Additional features include a waterfall ranging from five to eight metres in height, a circular pond, and connecting bridges. The entrance gate, which stands 20 feet tall and 40 feet wide, is constructed from natural stone. Walking trails made from Narmada stone, rows of trees, and landscaping designed to reflect the various layers of a rainforest are integral to the project. The landscape is conceptualized around the relationship between Purush and Prakriti, integrating natural materials, indigenous flora, and ecological learning spaces.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the site includes a Rainforest Information Centre, where visitors can explore forest ecology, biodiversity, and conservation through various displays, maps, and illustrations. This facility aims to enhance visitors’ understanding of the significance of forest ecosystems and the necessity for their conservation. Additionally, there will be a dedicated children’s play area featuring a rock-climbing wall, slides of varying heights, swings, and tree balconies connected by stairways.<\/p>\n

Timings & Ticket Prices<\/h2>\n

Visitors intending to visit can locate the Rain Forest on Statue of Unity Road in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. The site operates from 8 am to 6 pm, with the final entry allowed at 5 pm.<\/p>\n

Admission fees are set at Rs. 100 for Adults and Rs. 50 for Children between the ages of 3 and 15 years. Tickets can be purchased online via the official Statue of Unity Ticketing Portal or on-site (note that counters are cashless).<\/p>\n

The Rainforest is located on Statue of Unity Road in Ekta Nagar, which is the visitor area surrounding the statue. Private vehicles are prohibited from entering the main Statue of Unity area. Complimentary AC Electric Buses provide transportation to key locations and attractions throughout the zone. You can stroll through the garden at your leisure.<\/p>\n
