At a distance of 13 km from Sulthan Bathery Bus Stand, and 20 km from Kalpetta, Phantom Rock is a natural rock formation located near Ambalavalayal in the Wayanad District of Kerala. It is one of the least explored tourist places in Wayanad.

Phantom Rock is a natural metamorphic rock formation resembling a human skull, hence the name Phantom Rock. Stands at a height of 2600 feet above sea level at Ambalavayal, Phantom Rock, locally known as Cheengeri Mala, it is an archaeological wonder that can be hardly spotted anywhere else in the world.

The place is accessible by well-maintained roads, with the final 500 meters reached on foot through a narrow lane making it an exciting spot for trekkers and hikers, offering some amazing opportunities for photography. Once at the top, one will get a splendid view of the city comfortably nestled within the beautiful colors of nature. Besides, the place has ample spots where people can go camping. Surrounded by lush greenery, it is a picture-perfect place for those who are looking for peace and solitude.
