At a distance of 2 km from Solapur Railway Station, Bhuikot Fort is an ancient fort situated in the city of Solapur, Maharashtra. Located on the banks of Siddheshwar Lake, it is one of the popular places of heritage in Maharashtra, and among the top places to visit in Solapur.

Bhuikot Fort, also known as Solapur Fort, is a landmark of Solapur town and a footmark of the Bahamani dynasty. It is said that the fort was built during the 14th century by Bahamani Sultans. It is said that the fort was built in the memory of Hutatma Bagh. After Bahmani, Solapur Fort came under Mughal rule. During Aurangzeb's reign, most of his time was spent around the fort. Later, this fort came under the control of Nizam of Hyderabad and later the Marathas. Historians say Bajirao II also stayed here for a month in 1818.

The unique characteristic of Bhuikot Fort is that it is a land fort and not a regular mountain fort. Hence, it is called Bhuikot Killa. It has double fortifications and has a typical Bahmani-era construction style. It has two gates: a north gate and a Mahakali gate, a Shani Temple, a ruined Shiva Temple, a Mahakaleshwar Temple, and a mosque with a carved ceiling and several pillars inside it. There is also a well, which is octagonal, and a small pond inside the fort. The fort is now in ruins and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Siddheshwar Temple, Siddheshwar Lake, and Hutatma Bagh are also beside the fort. There is also a small animal zoo that houses several animals like a peacock, a duck, a rabbit, monkeys, etc. The authorities also arranged a wonderful amusement park in the fort that entertains the children who visit the fort. The fort is an ideal location to spend some leisure time with your friends and family.
