At a distance of 25 Kms from Belur & 15 Kms from Hassan, Doddagaddavalli village is known for the Lakshmidevi Temple built by the Hoysalas in 1114 AD.

Situated between Hassan & Belur, the temple was built during the rule of King Vishnuvardhana. Set amidst lush coconut plantations, there is a lake adjacent to the temple. It is one of the earliest known temples built in Hoysala style and is built with soap stone. The temple does not stand on a platform which became popular in later Hoysala temples.

The main temple is located at the center of the compound. The main shrine faces east with tall image of Lakshmi enshrined in the sanctorum. There are four shrines in the temple complex facing each other and sharing the common hall within the temple. The shrines contain both Vaishnava and Shaiva deities that are Lakshmi, Siva, Vishnu and Kali. At the eight cardinal quarters of the ceilings are carved with the guardian deities.
