At a distance of 5 km from Bundi Railway Station, Sukh Mahal is a small palace situated in Bundi. It is one of the famous places to visit as part of Bundi tour, especially for nature lovers.

Sukh Mahal was constructed as a summer retreat for former rulers by Umed Singh. The intention behind the establishment of this palace was to provide the princes of that era with the opportunity to engage in their questionable activities without restraint. Today, it is quite famous for being the place where the renowned English novelist Rudyard Kipling wrote his novel'Kim'. Many credit the palace as a having played muse to the renowned novel. In fact, even a part of the movie based on the novel was even shot here.

Sukh Mahal is a two-story palace designed in the Rajput architectural style during the 17th to 18th centuries AD. The ground floor features a hall, while the upper level contains two dome-shaped rooms. The primary highlight of Sukh Mahal is a white marble chhatri that adorns the roof of the second story. It is said that the old palace and Sukh Mahal are linked by an underground tunnel.

Sukh Mahal is located on the periphery of the lake Jait Sagar. Surrounded by the hills and home to beautiful lotus flowers, this lake gives picturesque views. The complex has a garden with a sitting area, another seating place overlooking the lake and palace.
