At a distance of 2 km from Bekal Fort, 28 km from Kasaragod, 3 km from Mangalore & 78 km from Kannur, Bekal Fort Beach is a beautiful sea beach on the Malabar Coastline of Kerala. Situated near Bekal Fort, it is one of the best Kerala Beaches and among the top places to visit near Kannur.
Bekal Beach is one of the best maintained beaches in this region. Swaying palm trees along the ridges of the beach, its evergreen outlook, the turquoise water of the Arabian Sea, and the tranquility that exists in and around Bekal Beach makes it a much sought-after beach in Kerala. Along with the historic Bekal Fort, this sandy retreat leaves an everlasting impression in the minds of its visitors.
There is a Bekal Beach Park with fascinating walkway made for the visitors to view the scenic beauty of the coastal line and relish the panoramic view of the Bekal Fort. Bekal Beach Park is the extension of Bekal Beach on the other side of the fort. On the actual Bekal Beach swimming is not allowed but on this side one can take a dip in the warm waters of Arabian Sea. There are Lifeguards on the beach appointed by Department of Kerala Tourism.
The Bekal Beach Park is the best place to spend some quality time with friends and family. One may enjoy camel rides, horse rides, local snacks etc. on the beach. There is also a children play area where they can spend time. It also has got food stalls and toilet facility. Bekal Beach remains enlightened during evening hours so that tourists can spend some time at the seashore after dusk.
