Only Indians are allowed to visit and stay on Agatti Islands.

At a distance of 459 km from Kochi, Agatti Island is a beautiful island situated on a coral atoll called Agatti atoll in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, India. Located to the west of Kavaratti Island, it is the virtual gateway to the islands and among the must-visit places during your Lakshadweep tour.

Spanning over 7.6 km, Agatti Island is a mesmerizing jewel in the Lakshadweep archipelago, and is one of the few inhabited islands of Lakshadweep. Bangaram Island is the nearest island which is about 7 km from Agatti while the Kavaratti Island is about 55 km away. A small area of about 0.09 sq. km forms the Kalpatti Island which is located at the southern end of the Agatti Island. Agatti has one of the most beautiful lagoons in Lakshadweep with an area of about 25 sq. km.

With its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a rich marine ecosystem, this small island offers an idyllic escape for travelers seeking tranquility and natural beauty. The island is blessed with aquatic diversity that includes turtles, coral growths, and multicolored fishes. Only Indians are allowed to visit and stay on the Agatti Islands. The foreign nationals can stay on Bangaram Island, Minicoy Island, and Thinnikara Island. There are only two hotels or resorts in Agatti Island - Agatti Island Beach Resort, and Sea Shells Beach Resort.

Agatti has an airport that makes this small island more accessible for tourists. Indian Airlines operates flights to Agatti from the Indian mainland. One can also reach the island via an overnight voyage by passenger ships from Kochi.
