At a distance of 7 km from Agatti, and 400 km from Kochi, Bangaram is a tiny teardrop-shaped island on the Bangaram atoll in the western Lakshadweep archipelago. Situated very close to Agatti and Kavaratti Islands, it is one of the popular places to visit as part of the Lakshadweep packages.

Bangaram Island is one of the few untouched and unspoiled tropical islands in the union territory of Lakshadweep. Surrounded by a lagoon formed by the Arabian Sea, this is the largest island in the Bangaram atoll and is connected to the reef of Agatti through a shallow submarine ridge. The small island encompasses an area of 1.234 sq. km filled with many elements of natural beauty. There is a long brackish pond in the center of the island fringed by screwpine and coconut palms.

Bangaram Island is known for its unique beaches, stunning topography, luxuriant plantations, and exotic aquatic creatures. The lagoon enclosing Bangaram encircles two small islands- Thinnakara and Parali, which lie close to Bangaram. This teardrop-shaped island also experiences a rare phenomenon of bioluminescence. The bluish glow that appears on the coral sands when phosphorescent plankton washes ashore is enchanting. The island also offers several water sports, like kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Also, the island has one of the two world-class scuba diving schools in Lakshadweep offering scuba diving for beginners.

There aren't many hotels in Bangaram Island you can choose from. There is only one beach resort on the island, and the modernization lies miles away from this island, making it a perfect destination to cut out from the outer world. The resort had 60 air-conditioned cottages. This is the only resort in Lakshadweep that allows the consumption of alcoholic drinks.

Among the most popular means of travel to Bangaram from the Indian mainland is via an overnight voyage by passenger ships or a take a flight from Kochi to Agatti. One can reach this island by boats and ferries that are available from Agatti Island that will take around 45 minutes to reach. Tourists require a special permit to enter Bangaram Island with the confirmed stay if they want to stay here overnight.
