At a distance of 54 km from Agatti, and 404 km from Kochi, Kavaratti is a census town as well as the name of the atoll upon which the town stands. It is one of the must-include places in Lakshadweep packages, especially for divers.
Located in the center of the Lakshadweep archipelago, Kavaratti is the capital of Lakshadweep known for its coconut trees, exotic marine life, beautiful sceneries, and enthralling water sports. Kavaratti has warm sandy beaches where tourists can unwind. It is an excellent place for scuba diving as you get to experience swimming in the deep blue sea amidst the untamed waters of Kavaratti.
The Chicken Neck Point, located to the south of the island, is a perfect place for water sports, including scuba diving and snorkeling. Dive attractions here include the Wall of Wonders, a wall of soft coral in a multitude of hues, fish in all colors and shapes, turtles, and more.
Many diving schools offer short-term diving courses. Each dive center has attached resorts catering to the needs of beginners as well as those interested in CMAS and PADI courses by certified divers. It is suggested to book in advance as there are a limited number of accommodations.
