Travel Tips: The Satpura National Park remains closed from 1st July to 30th September every year. It is also closed on Holi, Diwali festivals. The park management may also cancel the safaris due to floods and forest fires and no refund is provided to tourists. Permit fees for both Indian and Foreign tourists are the same.

At a distance of 15 km from Madhai, Parsapani or Parraspani is the buffer zone of the Satpura National Park. This zone is one of the popular safari zones of Satpura and is primarily visited through the entrance gate at Pathai.

The landscape of Parsapani is hilly and has many ponds, streams, grasslands, riverbanks, forests, etc. Earlier, there was a village in the Parsapani zone, and now a grassland was developed after the displacement of the village about 4-5 years back. The number of herbivores is increasing here as fodder is abundant. Carnivores like Tiger, leopard, etc. are also turning towards Parsapani these days due to the availability of food.

The Eco Tourism Board is also undertaking activities like bird watching, trekking, gypsy safari, late-exit safari, village tour, cultural programs, etc. to make the journey of tourists exciting. This zone should be preferred for the evening safari. The twilight hour from 5.30 PM to 8 PM is an ideal time for sightings, as most wild animals and birds start returning to their roost or resting sites. The predators on the other hand start crawling out of their hideouts, and can be caught on the prowl. This is an ideal time to spot a leopard or a sloth bear.

The safari in the Parsapani route starts from Pathai and is spread over 35 km. One can see some of the rarest creatures on the planet like the Satpura Leopard Gecko, Rusty Spotted Cat, Mouse Deer, Indian Crested Porcupine, and many more. Paraspani also has a few water bodies and a watchtower that lend it a certain mysterious charm. Camping is allowed inside the buffer zone. In Parsapani, visitors can stay in the forest guard's camp which earlier used to be a school in a village.

The Jeep Safari is done with vehicles registered with the park administration. The number of vehicles allowed to enter this core zone is 14 in the morning and 14 in the evening. Each jeep can take up to 6 travelers other than a driver and one guide. It is advisable to book the entrance ticket in well advance to avoid any chance of unavailability of safari seats. The tourists will have to pay double the mentioned rates if they enter the park in a vehicle unregistered to Satpura Tiger Reserve.

One can book the entry ticket either online at www.mponline.gov.in or through travel agents or if available one can also get this from the booking window at the entrance gate of the national park. One can also book a single seat for a jeep safari instead of paying for the full vehicle at Satpura. The guide fee and vehicle hire fee are to be paid separately at the park before undertaking the safari and will be distributed equally between the tourists in the vehicle. All the visitors are required to carry their original identity document during safari drives as it is verified at the entrance gate. Safari tickets are non-transferable.
