At a distance of 32 km from Gangtok, Seven Sister Waterfall is a scenic waterfall located on Gangtok- Lachung Highway of Sikkim. It is one of the famous waterfalls in Sikkim and also one of the top Gangtok Tourist Places.

The Seven Sisters Waterfall is an extremely captivating waterfall, which got its name because it is said to fall in seven stages. However, visitors can see only 4 stages from the bottom. The rest are way higher and hidden between the rocks. The magnificent view of refreshing water with a background of lush mountains casts a spell on the visitors with its charm and make it one of the most visited and photographed waterfalls in this region.

The picture perfect beauty of Seven Sister Waterfalls is much loved by picnickers, photographers, nature lovers as well as the local people. A small footbridge crosses over the stream to give the clients a better view and photographic break. To facilitate the tourists to savor the pristine beauty and to be with nature, Tourism Department has set up a waiting shed and a cafeteria where visitors can take a refreshing break.

The best time to visit the fall is during the rainy season or when the snow melts. It's during this period that the waterfall comes to life.

Wildlife | Waterfall

At a distance of 31 km of Gangtok, Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary situated around the area adjoining the Tsomgo Lake in Gangtok. Along the Nathula Road, it is one of the best places to experience Gangtok Tourism.

Established in 1977, the sanctuary covers an area of 31 sq. km. The sanctuary extends from the 15 mile police check post up to the ridges bordering the famous Rong Chu and Tsomgo Lakes. Situated at an altitude ranging from 3,292 m to 4,116 m, the sanctuary boasts a wide variety of flora and fauna. The sanctuary is also the perfect place for trekking tours. The views of Khangchendzonga peak are awesome from the sanctuary. Since it is situated close to India-China border at Nathu La, the place is well conserved by the Indian Army.

The sanctuary is very rich in natural vegetation which comprises of various rare species of plants and trees that are hard to find somewhere else. Some of the common species of vegetation seen here are tall juniper, rhododendron, silver fir, orchid, primulas, gentians, wild strawberries, rare panax, irises etc. The sanctuary also has various species of medicinal plants like Nilo Bikh, Kutki, Jatamasi, etc. The lower altitudes are dense with bamboos, which is home to red Panda and other wild animals.

Besides flora, the sanctuary houses plenty of animals. Some of the species of animals that are found in this sanctuary include Serow, Musk Deer, Goral, Himalayan Black Bear, Blood Pheasant, Leopard, Lesser Cats ...

Waterfall

At a distance of 10 km from Yuksom and 24 km from Pelling, Kanchenjunga Waterfalls is a stunning waterfall situated in the beautiful hill town of Pelling, Sikkim. It is one of the largest waterfalls in Sikkim and among the prime Pelling Tourist Places.

Kanchenjunga Falls is a perennial waterfall situated around an hour drive from Pelling towards Yuksom. It is believed that the pristine waterfall originates high up in the glaciers of Mount Kanchenjunga, the 3rd highest peak in the world. It gushes down from a height of 100 feet into a pool. Kanchenjunga falls was not known to people and remained untouched till the 90s. It only came into the limelight, when a local tour operator named Topjor Bhutia accidentally discovered it. Today this spot become one of the leading tourist spots in West Sikkim.

Known for its splendid beauty and glory, the waterfalls serves as a perfect picnic spot with family and friends. Situated at a sharp curve on the road side, tourists need to climb around 50 steps from the road to reach the falls. For adventure-junkies, there is an option of rope sliding. One can also spot lot of small food stalls selling chat, tea and Maggie on the stairs.

Being a perennial waterfall, Kanchenjunga Fall can be visited anytime. However, the best time to visit the fall is after the monsoon season.

Waterfall

At a distance of 5 km from Darap Village and 12 km from Pelling, Rimbi Waterfalls is a scenic waterfall near Pelling. Situated near Darap Village, it is one of the famous waterfalls in Pelling and among the best places of sightseeing in Pelling.

On the way to Khecheopalri Lake and Yuksam, Rimbi waterfall is formed over Rimbi River. During summer, the waterfall looks spectacular which attracts many tourists. Located close to the waterfall is one of the oldest hydro power stations in Sikkim. Established in the early 70's, this power station is the source of energy for most of the villa towns of West Sikkim including Gayzing, Tigjuck and Pelling.

The waterfall turns into Rimbi River, which is frequented by locals and tourists for various recreational activities like swimming and fishing. Whether you go fishing or not, do try a local preparation of Assala - a variety of fish found only here. It is also the best place to spend some memorable moments with your loved ones amidst nature. All the tourists stop over here for some time while going to Kanchenjunga Waterfalls.

Both summer and winter are perfect for enjoying Rimbi. It is during monsoon, that the water flow is heavy and is suggested that not to venture into the fall.

Waterfall

At a distance of 9 km from Pelling, Changey Waterfall is a serene waterfall situated on Pelling - Dentam Road in Pelling. It is one of the splendid places to visit in Pelling and among the famous waterfalls in Sikkim.

Changey Waterfall looks pretty much like a white line, emerging from dense greenery falling from a height of about 300 feet. Situated on the way to Dentam, the waterfall attracts number of tourists. With the scenic backdrop of lush green vegetation and towering hills, the falls is an ideal tourist attraction and a lovely picnic spot for the people to enjoy some relaxing moments in deep serenity. Nearby the falls, the Dentam Bazaar is also located where the visitors can do some shopping.

The falls is situated downhill from the last motorable point. From there, one needs to walk almost 20 minutes to reach the falls. The pathway is broken and full of leaves and branches. But visitors will forget every pain once reach the fall.

Waterfall

At a distance of 7 km from Yuksom and 35 km from Pelling, Phamrong Falls is a stunning waterfall situated near Pelling in West Sikkim district. Located between Yuksam and Gerethang, Phamrong is highest waterfall of Sikkim and among the best places to visit in Pelling.

Set in the midst of lush greenery, this waterfall cascading down from the magnificent Kanchenjunga Ranges. The water gushing down the rocky plateau creates an amazing vista of a play between water and rocks. A bridge nearby provides enchanting view of the entire waterfall. Surrounded by forested hills, the region gives spectacular view of the Kanchenjunga Mountain.

There is a viewpoint for a closer view of this waterfall. Visitors need to trek a steep staircase of about 200 steps to reach the viewpoint. Tourists capture very beautiful views both from the top and the bottom of the Waterfall. A cafeteria is being constructed for the benefit of tourists and the picnickers.

Waterfall

At a distance of 13 km from Lachung, Bhim Nala Falls is a gorgeous waterfalls situated at Khedum village near Lachung in North Sikkim. This is one of the tallest waterfalls in Sikkim and among the popular places to visit in Lachung.

Located on Chungthang - Lachung road, Bhim Nala Waterfalls is also called Amitabh Bachchan falls due to its height. The water is falling from very high mountain and it looks like a three stage waterfall. The sound of water dropping can hear from far off. There is a tea shop and a small view point just opposite the falls which offers a beautiful view of the falls.

Waterfall

At a distance of 34 km from Lachung and 82 km from Gangtok, Naga Falls is another beautiful waterfall situated near Lachung in North Sikkim. Situated on Gangtok-Chungthang road, it is one of the waterfalls in Sikkim and among the must visit places in Lachung.

Naga falls is one of the longest and the scenic waterfalls with very clean and ice-cold water. It is a multi-tiered waterfall. The main fall is quite far from the main road so one needs to trek on a rocky path to get the view. The place offer panoramic view of snow-caped mountains all around. During monsoons the flow of water becomes extremely heavy and even dangerous.
