At a distance of 40 Kms from Sringeri & 2 Kms from Kudremukh, The Lakya Dam is a check dam built by Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd across the Lakya River, a tributary of River Bhadra. The main purpose of the dam is to deposit the waste materials from the mining operations.
The dam is located in forest with lots of greenery around. The mining was stopped here in 2005 due to the threat to environment.
Timings: 4.30 - 6.30 PM on weekdays & 9.30 AM to 6.30 PM on Sundays
