Yas Island - History, Timings & Entry Fee

At a distance of 10 km from Abu Dhabi International Airport, Yas Island is a man-made island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the UAE and among the must-visit places in Abu Dhabi.

Yas Island is a 2,500-hectare human-made island that encompasses everything from posh hotels to shopping centers. The island's development project was initiated in 2006 by Abu Dhabi-based Aldar Properties, with the aim of turning the island into a multi-purpose leisure, shopping, and entertainment center at an estimated cost of over a billion. Yas Island was named the world's leading tourism project at the World Travel Awards in November 2009.

Considered an activities hub in Abu Dhabi, Yas Island houses some amazing attractions for people of all ages to enjoy. Yas Island holds the Yas Marina Circuit, which has hosted the F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009. Get to grips with Yas Marina Circuit through a series of track day packages, including Driver Experiences, Passenger Experiences, Private Driving Tuition programs, and Racing License Courses. At the circuit's centerpiece is the W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island, a five-star hotel, the only one in the world to straddle an F1 race track being breathtakingly built half on land and a half over water.

It is also home to the famous Ferrari World, the world's first Ferrari-branded theme park. The park has more than 20 exhilarating and educational rides and attractions, interactive shopping and authentic Italian dining experiences along with the prestigious Formula Rossa, the world's fastest rollercoaster reaching a speed of 240 km/h within 5 minutes. One can also visit nearby the Warner Bros. World and Yas Water World here and try the 238-meter long, world's first and largest hydro magnetic-powered, six-person tornado waterslide. For adrenaline seekers, there are three-meter high waves on Bubble's Barrel, which has the world's largest surfable sheet wave for flow boards and bodyboards.

The island features an extensive golf course, the 'Yas Link' and the beautiful Yas Beach. The island also houses Abu Dhabi's biggest and the UAE's second-largest shopping center, the Yas Mall. The mall provides a vibrant getaway shopping experience for tourists, international guests, and local residents. Regarding live entertainment options, Yas Island has the du Arena which is the largest open-air concert venue in the Middle East & du Forum which is hosted by the entertainment platform 'Du Live!'.
