Private Jeep Safari is the best way to get maximum exposure to wildlife of the Bandipur park. Currently, private jeep safaris are only permitted by two operators - Jungle Lodge and Tusker Trails. Jungle Lodge is located in Melkamanahalli Village just before Bandipur and Tusker Trails located Mangla Village which is 4 Kms towards Mysore.

The private jeep carries an experienced guide who helps tourists in spotting and identifying the wildlife. The duration of safari is 2-3 hours and it's ideal for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. Early morning and evening safaris offer best chances to view wildlife like Tigers.

At a distance of 19 Kms from Bandipur & 9 Kms from Hangla (which is between Bandipur & Gundlupet/Mysore), Gopalaswamy Betta is famous for 13th century Gopalaswamy temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Situated at an altitude of 1454 meters, Gopalaswamy Betta has pleasant weather throughout the year. It is also the highest peak in the Bandipur National Park. This Gopalaswamy temple was built by the King Chola Ballala during 1315 AD. There are several lakes around the hill.

The temple on top of the hill is well connected by road. A car festival is celebrated for 7 days in March / April. Entry fee is collected at the forest checkpost at foot of the hill (4 Kms before the temple).
