At a distance of 48 km from Sawai Madhopur and 55 km from Ranthambore National Park, Ghushmeshwar Temple is situated at Shiwar town of Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan.
The Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, popularly known as Lord Ghushmeshwar or Lord Dhushmeshwar. Nestled in the picturesque Devgiri hills, the Ghushmeshwar Temple is believed to be 12th or the last of the Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva mentioned in the Shiva Purana 'Kotirudra Sahinta'.
Enshrined in the puranas, this temple has many mythological stories weaved around it. The most prominent, and popular story tells of the greatness of Lord Shiva, who resurrected his devotee Ghushma's son, and even promised to abide in Devgiri hills as Ghushmeshwar after her name, Ghushma.
The sacred shrine of Ghushmeshwar Jyotirling Mandir is belived to be thousands of years old. Millions of devotees throng the temple throughout the year. The congregation of devotees assumes a much colourful look during Shivratri and in the month of shrawan.
