At a distance of 8 km from Tallital Bus Stand, Himalayan Darshan is a viewpoint situated in Nainital. Located on the way to Kilbury, it is one of the popular vantage points in Nainital and among the top Nainital Tourist Places.

Nestled at an altitude of about 2000 m, Himalayan Darshan is also known as Himalayan Viewpoint and is a beautiful tourist spot in Nainital. This viewpoint offers some spectacular views of several prominent Himalayan peaks along with surrounding lush green hills and valleys below. It is a very good place to spend some time in solitude amid the Mother Nature.

Due to its close proximity to Nainital Town, one can visit this place by hiring a taxi, horseback or on foot.

At a distance of 1.5 km from Eco Cave Garden and 5 km from Tallital Bus Stand, Lover's Point is a vantage point situated near Bara Pathar in Nainital. It is one of the scenic viewpoints in Nainital and among the must include places in Nainital Tour Packages.

Lover's Point is famous for the scenic views it provides. The Lovers Point is genuinely romantic and extremely appreciated by couples in love. A small walk through the rocky road from the parking lot takes you to this point. The mesmerizing beauty of this place is liked and frequented by many tourists. One can avail horse from this point to upper points like Tiffin Top, Naina peak, etc. which are not accessible by vehicles.

Contiguous the cliff of Lovers Point there lies the Suicide Point, the awfulness of everything. Many people have jumped off from this point and committed suicide and that is how this point got such a controversial name. At a distance of 3 km from Tallital Bus Stand, the Eco Cave Garden is actually a natural park situated in Nainital. Located along the Kaldungi Road in Mallital, it is one of the beautiful parks in Nainital and among the must include places of Himalaya Darshan Tour of Nainital.

Maintained by the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam, Eco Cave Garden is a newly developed tourist spot in Nainital. This natural park is a collection of interconnected rocky caves and hanging gardens which offers the glimpse of Himalayan wildlife through different caves. It has a total of six caves namely Squirrel Cave, Bat Cave, Panther Cave, Ape Cave, Tiger Cave and Flying Fox Cave. The caves here are of different dimensions narrowing down further into the tunnels which give it a natural look.

Wildlife

At a distance of 1.5 km from Tallital Bus Stand, G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo is a high altitude zoo situated in Nainital. It is one of the three High Altitude Zoo Parks in North India, apart from those in Darjeeling and Sikkim, and among the top tourist attractions in Nainital.

The Zoo was established in 1984 and is spread over an area of 11 acres. It is situated on the Sher Ka Danda hill at an altitude of 2,100 m (6,900 feet) and is the only zoo in Uttarakhand. The Zoo was opened to visitors on 1st June 1995 and is managed by Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo Management Society, Nainital from 1st March 2002.

The Zoo was established to conserve and protect the wildlife and biodiversity of the hill region of Uttarakhand. The zoo has several endangered species of animals in the Himalayas and animals like snow leopard, Tibetan wolf, Japanese Macaque, Sambar, Himalayan Civet, .....

Shopping

At a distance of 1 km from Tallital Bus Station, Mall Road is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Nainital. It connects the North and South West corner of Nainital Lake known as Mallital and Tallital and runs parallel to Nainital Lake. Shopping in Mall Road is one of the top activities in Nainital.

The Mall Road was constructed during the British colonial rule. This is the main commercial area which runs through the heart of the Nainital town. The Mall road is now named as Govind Ballabh Pant Marg. The road has a number of Hotels, Banks, Showrooms, Department Stores, Shops, Restaurants and Cafes. It is a cluster of many small shops offering varied products.

Visitors can enjoy their leisurely evening stroll on the Mall Road, with a cool refreshing breeze blowing across the lake on to the road adding to the charm of the Mall. During summers, this road becomes crowded with locals and tourists enjoying the evening weather.

Lake & Backwaters

At a distance of 1.5 km from Tallital Bus Stand, Nainital Lake is a natural freshwater lake, situated amidst the main town of Nainital. It is one of the prime Nainital tourist places.

Nainital Lake is commonly represented to promote Nainital Tourism. The lake was built in 1839 by P. Barron. Situated at an altitude of 2,000 m, this is one of the four lakes of Kumaon hills, the other three lakes are Sattal Lake, Bhimtal Lake, and Naukuchiyatal Lake. Nainital Lake is lunar-shaped and has an outlet at the southeastern end. The lake covers a perimeter of 2 miles with a depth that varies from 6 m to 28 m. The northern part of the lake is called Mallital while the southern part is known as Tallital. Balia Nala is the main feeder stream of the lake. Other than this, 26 major drains, including the three perennial ones, feed it. It is surrounded by panoramic hills on three sides.

Pilgrimage

At a distance of 2 km from Tallital Bus Stand, the Naina Devi Temple is a Hindu temple situated on the northern end of the Nainital Lake near the Nainital Boat House Club. It is one of the top places of pilgrimage in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, and among the must-visit places during Nainital Tour.

The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Naina Devi represented by two eyes. According to the legend, Naina Devi Temple is the place where eyes from burned body of Goddess Sati fall when her corpse was being carried by Lord Shiva. The word Naina is synonymous with Sati's eyes. The temple is one the main Nainital places to visit.

It is said that the current temple at Nainital actually replaces the original 15th-century temple. In 1842, a devotee Moti Ram Shah installed an idol of Naina Devi. A major landslide has destroyed the temple completely .....

Nature & Scenic

At a distance of 3 km from Tallital Bus Stand & 2 km from Nainital Lake, Snow View Point is one of the most beautiful places in Nainital and also among the most visited Nainital tourist places.

Situated at an altitude of 2,270 m, Snow view point offers excellent views of snowcapped mountains like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Nanda Kot. It also offers great views of Nainital Lake and the town. Snow view point is well connected by road but a ride in aerial ropeway from Mallital is the best way to reach this place.

In order to provide a perfect view to visitors, a pair of huge binoculars is installed at this spot. A small temple housing images of Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Hanuman with Durga and Shiva is located on the peak. The Tibetan monastery Gadhan Kunkyop Ling Gompa of the Gelukpa order situated near Snow view point is also a must visit spot. An early morning trek to this place gives some of the best .....

At a distance of 3 km from Almora Bus Stand, Bright End Corner is a vantage point situated at the end of Almora ridge. The place offers some of the most picturesque views of the sunrise and sunset amidst the mighty Himalayas. The point marks the beginning of the Mall Road at Almora and is named after Mr. Brighton.

It is also known for its various meditational centers like Sri Ramakrishna Kutir Ashram and the famous Swami Vivekananda Library. Tourists from across the world travel to this place during April to June and September to October seeking to take up meditation classes. A little away is the Vivekananda Memorial where Swami Vivekananda had spent some time on his journey to the Himalayas.

Pilgrimage

At a distance of 10 km from Almora Bus Stand, Kasar Devi Temple is a famous Hindu shrine at Kasar Devi village in Almora district of Uttarakhand. It is one of the oldest Hindu temples of the region.

Kasar Devi Temple is believed to be built in 2nd century AD and is dedicated to Kasar Devi. The temple is adorned on a hillock at an altitude of 2116 m overlooking the town of Almora. In 1890's Swami Vivekananda came to this temple for meditation. Alfred Sorensen who is also known as the Sunyata Baba stayed here for many years in 1930s. Several saints reported the presence of a divine power in these areas. It is said that this place is exposed to Van Allan belt, that's why a special natural powers are felt among people who come here.

Many foreigners came here in search of spiritualism with the effect of Sunyata Baba. The constant presence of foreigners conforming to the Hippie culture of the late 70s and early 80s led to the naming of this place as Hippie Land.

At a distance of 6 km from Almora Bus Stand, Deer Park is situated in Narayan Tiwari Dewai in Almora Town.

Deer Park is one of the major attractions of Almora and it features tall pine trees which add to the rich natural beauty of the place. This park preserves a huge collection of deer, furious Himalayan bears and wild leopards, which can be seen wandering around freely in the park. Besides, the place is an ideal place to take a leisure walk during the evening time.

Pilgrimage

At a distance of 500 m from Almora Bus Stand, Nanda Devi Temple is situated above the Mall Road in Almora. It is one of the most famous and sacred temples in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand.

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Nanda Devi, the patron goddess of the Chand Dynasty. She is believed to be the destroyer of evil. Nanda Devi temple dates back to 11th century and is built in Kumaoni-style architecture within the premises of a Shiva temple. The idol of the goddess Nanda is a huge monument with a stone crown encircled by a wooden roof. The surrounding walls are graced by intricate stone carvings of several life size statues.

Nanda Devi temple is quite famous not just in Kumauni people but whole of Uttarakhand. There are numerous temples of Nanda Devi in Kumaon hills and the hills of far-western Nepal dedicated to goddess Parvati as the daughter of Himalayas. Museum & Gallery

At a distance of 25 km from Haldwani, 32 km from Ramnagar, and 34 km from Nainital, Jim Corbett Museum is a heritage museum situated in Choti Haldwani on Ramnagar road near Kaladhungi Town.

The museum was formally initiated by a few forest officers in the year 1965. Jim Corbett built this house in 1922 for himself at Choti Haldwani, which now houses the museum in his memory. It is a single storied bungalow built using stone and lime mortar on a high plinth. This house served as winter residence for Jim and his sister Maggie. Before leaving India in 1947, he sold this property to a friend Babu Chiranji Lal. Later, in 1965 it was sold to the forest department for setting up the museum.

The museum brings the memory, life and activities of Jim Corbett. Jim was a renowned environmentalist, hunter as well as a front runner in the tiger conservation. Waterfall

At a distance of 38 km from Nainital, 5 km from Kaladhungi and 26 km from Ramnagar, Corbett Waterfalls is situated on Ramnagar - Kaladhungi highway in Nainital district. Corbett Falls is among the top places to visit in Nainital and also one of the best places to visit near Delhi.

Corbett Falls is a scenic water fall and is surrounded by dense teak wood forest. This waterfall is cascading down from a height of 20 m in to a pool. Sound of the waterfall makes perfect melody with chippings of the birds. The fall is not very huge and bathing in the falls is no longer permitted, but the natural beauty around the place has to be enjoyed and appreciated. The Park acts as a protection zone for Bengal Tigers of India. It is one of the wellknown wildlife sanctuaries in India and among the best places to visit near Delhi.

Corbett National Park was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park. After India's independence the park was named as Ramganga National Park but later in 1956, it was renamed after Jim Corbett - the famous hunter turned conservationist and author, who played a major role in the establishment of the national park.
