At a distance of 4 km from Varkala Railway Station, Varkala Aquarium is a government aquarium located in the Thiruvambadi area of Varkala, Kerala. It is one of the top places to visit in Varkala.

Varkala Aquarium is situated in a three-story building with a spiral staircase near Black Sand Beach or Thiruvambadi Beach. The marine species are placed along the spiral walkway. The top floor of the building has an open tank where all the species are placed. The aquarium hosts big chunks of exotic species including scorpionfish, angelfish, koi, and the local karimeen.

The Varkala Aquarium is maintained by the Kerala Fisheries Department. The aquarium also has a 3D theatre where information about more species of fish is given using 3D technology. The aquarium is highly educational, especially for the kids, with detailed information sections. One can also see the scenic Varkala Cliff and the azure waters of the Arabian Sea from the building.
