At a distance of 18 Km from Malvan, the Dhamapur Lake is an enchanting artificial lake situated near Dhamapur village near Malvan, Maharashtra. It is one of the must-include places in the Malvan leisure packages.

Dhamapur Lake is an artificial lake formed by an earth-fill dam that was built in 1530 by the local villagers along with Nagesh Desai, who served as the minister of the Vijaynagar dynasty. Covering an area of over 10 acres, this lake ranks among the largest in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. It collects water during the monsoon season and remains full throughout the year. Canals link it to the Karli river, providing irrigation for the verdant paddies and farms that cultivate the red Sorti and Walay rice varieties characteristic of the area.

This lake exemplifies how a thoughtful and sustainable local system can benefit both communities and wildlife. Enclosed by verdant hills and flourishing orchards of Mango, Kokam, and Coconut, this scenic lake has become a cherished haven for locals in search of peace. In 2020, it was honored with the World Heritage Irrigation Structure (WHIS) Award by the International Commission of Irrigation and Drainage (ICID).

The waters of Dhamapur Lake are crystal clear and beautifully reflect the breathtaking landscape, making it an ideal setting for nature enthusiasts. A Bhagwati temple, built in the traditional Konkan architectural style, is situated on its banks. Small shrines dedicated to anthills surround this temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati. This is due to the belief throughout the Konkan region that anthills are manifestations of the Earth Goddess and are revered as Goddess Sateri.

Additionally, there is a nature club and a children's park, along with boating facilities provided by the MTDC. The dense greenery encircling the lake serves as a habitat for numerous birds, attracting birdwatchers to this location.
