At a distance of 8 km from Kanpur Central, Kamla Retreat is a resort cum museum located on Kamala Nehru Road in the Nawabganj area of Kanpur. Situated near Kanpur Zoo, it is one of the famous places to visit as part of the Kanpur tour.

Kamla Retreat was built in the year 1960 by Shri Padam Pat Singhania, an eminent industrialist of India. Built on a massive private ground, the resort complex houses several places including a museum, several parks, green lawns, and canals with boating facilities. The museum has several archaeological and historical mementos and artifacts dating back to ancient times. Besides, the museum also includes a large collection of crockery and cutlery.

The retreat also boasts of a swimming pool with high-tech equipment for creating artificial waves. The pool is particularly appealing at night due to its spectacular lighting system. Besides, the estate features an extensive indoor zoo that accommodates several varieties of exotic species including reptiles and multi-colored birds. It is an ideal place for outdoor activities such as games, walks, picnics, family gatherings, swimming, and boating.

Special permissions must be obtained beforehand to gain entry into Kamla Retreat.
