At a distance of 3 Kms from Mangalore Railway Station, Bejai Museum also known as Shreemanthi Bai Museum is located at Bejai.

The Bejai Museum is the city's only museum and well known as a treasury of many ancient artifacts. The museum houses idols, paintings, metallic icons, statues, lamps and inscriptions made out of copper. One major attraction is the copper inscription containing the verses of Keladi Venkatappa Nayaka dating back to 1624 AD.

At a distance of 1.5 Kms from Mangalore Railway Station, Rosario Cathedral situated near Mangaladevi Temple is an ancient church built by Portuguese in the year 1568. The Church was reconstructed in 1910.

The church has impressive architecture, designed in the pattern of St Peters Basilica of Rome and resembling the Roman architectural style. The dome is the most beautiful part and is a crowning work of the architectural magnificence. It also has a tall & magnificent bell tower in front of the church. In Tulu, Rosario Church is called -Poyyeda Ingreji-, meaning Sand Church.

The Feast of Our Lady Rosary is celebrated on 7th October every year with great glory.

At a distance of 1.5 Kms from Mangalore Railway Station, St. Aloysius Chapel is located inside St. Aloysius College Ground situated in the heart of Mangalore city. The walls of the chapel are covered with the paintings of the artist Antony Moshaini of Italy. The church was built in the year 1899-1900 by Father Joseph Willy. It is one of the top attractions in Mangalore.

This Chapel is comparable with the Sistine chapel in Rome. The special beauty of the chapel is the wonderful series of paintings. The two types of paintings in the chapel are fresco on plaster and oil on canvas. The sloping portion of the ceiling has paintings of St Peter and the Crowing of the Cock, Saints Paul, Andrew, James, John, Thomas, Philip, Mathew, Bartholomew, Simon and Jude. The central row of paintings on the ceiling depicts the life of St Aloysius Gonzaga to whom the chapel is dedicated.

At a distance of 2.5 Kms from Mangalore Railway Station, Kudroli Temple is a famous temple in the city of Mangalore dedicated to Gokarnanatheswara, another form of Lord Shiva. This is the only temple in Karnataka started by Narayana Guru, the famous social reformer from Kerala. It is one of the top places to visit in Mangalore city.

This temple was built by a devotee called H. Koragappa in the year 1912 under the guidance of Narayana Guru. In 1991, the gopuram of the temple was renovated to Chola Gopuram style. The Shiva Linga is carved out of marble brought by Narayana Guru from Gokarna where he found it under water. The other deities worshipped here are Goddess Annapoorneshwari, Lord Bhairava and Lord Ganesha, son of Shiva and Parvathi.

Navarathri is the famous annual festival of this temple. The ninth day celebration is symbolic with a grand procession of Durga similar to Mysore Dasara celebrations.

At a distance of 12 Kms from Mangalore Railway Station, Tannirbavi Beach is located towards the southern end of Mangalore Port. The beach is the property of Mangalore port trust. This is one of the best beaches of Mangalore and among the top Mangalore tourist places.

The soft sands of the beach and breezy winds of Arabian Sea offer memorable experience. It is also a favorite spot to watch the sunset. You can see the remains of a ship which sank 15 years ago near the beach. This beach is comparatively deserted and is a great spot for safe swimming.

Due to the poor connectivity, it's important to have your own vehicle to visit this beach in Mangaluru.

At a distance of 3 Kms from Udupi Railway Station, Udupi Sri Krishna Temple is one of the famous pilgrimage centers in South India.

The Krishna temple was founded by the Vaishnavite saint Shri Madhvacharya in the 13th century. This temple has a fascinating idol of Lord Krishna that is richly adorned with jewels & a famous golden chariot. The unique feature of this temple is that the Lord is worshipped only through a window with nine holes called the Navagraha Kitiki. The daily sevas and administration of the Mutt are managed by the Ashta Mathas.

Saptotsava or the Seven Utsavas celebrated in mid of Jan are considered as the annual festival of Sri Krishna Temple. During the Paryaya festival, held every two years, the temple management is handed over to the next Matha. Krishnashtami, Raamanavami, Hanumajjayanthi, & Deepavali are other important festival here.

Chandamouleeswara and Anantheshwara Temples adjacent to Sri Krishna Temple are about 2000 years old.

At a distance of 15 Kms from Udupi Railway Station, 65 Kms from Mangalore & 100 Kms from Murudeshwar, St. Mary's Island is a group of small beautiful islands to the north of Malpe Beach near Udupi. It is said that Vasco da Gama first reached this Island before reaching the Kappad Beach (near Calicut) while finding sea route to India.

The island has two beautiful beaches and crystallized basalt rock formations. The unique rock formations scattered through out the island giving a special landscape to the place. The rock formations are one of rarely found in the world. Eastern beach boasts of virgin sands, western beach is entirely made of sea shells. This unspoiled island is a very beautiful place with white sands, coconut trees, blue waters & pleasant atmosphere.

At a distance of 10 Kms from Udupi Railway Station, Malpe Beach spread between Swarna Nandi River and Malpe Port is one of the finest beaches in Karnataka.

Malpe is one of the most important ports of Karnataka. The endless stretch of golden sand, graciously swaying palm trees, the clear blue sky and the clean waters of Arabian Sea all set a perfect mood for an unforgettable holiday. Malpe Beach is characterized by silver white sand beach and rocky islands, which is still quite secluded and not visited by a lot of tourists. It is a great place for boating and swimming.

October to January is the best time to visit Malpe. St. Mary's Island can be reached from here.

At a distance of 16 Kms from Udupi Railway Station, Kaup Beach is a beautiful beach situated close to NH17 between Udupi & Mangalore. The light house situated on a hillock at the northern end of the beach is a beautiful sight to watch.

The beach is a serene place with nature's beauty in abundance. The 100 feet high light house was built by the British and it's a photographer's paradise. Kaup beach is covered by palm groves all the sides. Kaup is also known for the temple of Goddess Mariamma. There is also an ancient fort located in Kaup which is seen in ruins now. Kaup was once a famous Jain Kshetra and home for several Jain temples.

At a distance of 70 Kms from Mangalore, Dharmasthala is one of the famous pilgrimage centers in Karnataka and it is situated on the banks of Nethravathi River. The main attraction of Dharmasthala is famous Manjunatha Temple. This place is also known as Sri Kshetra.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of Manjunatha or Lokeshwara, this temple dates back to 16th Century. It is said that the Shiva Linga worshipped at this temple was procured from Kadri Temple in Mangalore. This place was known as Kuduma and later renamed to Dharmasthala in 16th century by Vadiraja Swami of Udupi.

The shrines of four Dharma Daivas (Kalarahu, Kalarkaayi, Kanyakumari and Kumaraswamy) are built well before Manjunatha Temple in Dharmasthala. Lakshadeepotsava celebrated in Kartheekamasa (Nov/Dec) is the main attraction of the temple.

This temple is involved in several social activities, especially, educational institutes for poor.

At a distance of 70 Kms from Mangalore, Manjusha Museum is located near Manjunatha Temple in Dharmasthala. This museum has a unique collection of heritage objects & artifacts of the region.

The museum houses a wide range of objects, including ancient scripts on palm leaves, silver jewellery, religious objects and household goods such as sewing machine, spectacles, typewriters and cameras.

Outside the Manjusha Museum is a collection of stone and wooden chariots used for temple processions. These have been preserved from temples from various districts of the state.

At a distance of 70 Kms from Mangalore, Bahubali Temple located in Dharmasthala is situated near Manjunatha Temple (about 1 Km) on top of Rathnagiri Betta. This temple enshrines the monolithic statue of Bhagvan Bahubali (Gomatheshwara) which is 39 foot high. Sculpted by the famous Renjala Gopalkrishna Shenoi, it was completed in 1973 and installed in 1982.

Bharata and his younger brother Bahubali, both of royal birth, fought each other in a battle for supremacy. Bharata lost the battle but his life was spared. Bahubali then realized the futility of war and killing to acquire power. He handed over his kingdom to his brother and became a member of the Digambara Jain sect. He began a severe penance, standing naked until he gained enlightenment

The Maha Masthakaabhisheka festival, sacred bathing of the statue with saffron paste, milk and water, held once in every 12 years.
