At a distance of 1 km from Kottayam Railway Station, St. Joseph's Cathedral located in Lal Bahadur Sastri Road is the major spiritual center for Jacobite Syrian Christians of the Kottayam.
Constructed in the year of 1981, this church functions under the Kottayam Diocese. It is the only Church of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Christians founded in the name of St. Joseph.
The festival of St. Joseph is celebrated on January 26. On this day, the foundation day of this church is also celebrated.
