At a distance of 10 Kms from Kottayam Railway Station, St. Joseph's Monastery Church located in Mannanam is an important Christian pilgrim center. This Church is associated with the Blessed Father Kuriakose Elias Chavarachan who was famed in miracle cures.
Thousands of devotees gather here to pay homage to the saint every Saturday. Though renovated many times, the Church retains its original altar with gold filigree work and paintings.
The festival of Blessed Chavara is celebrated on 3rd January with great devotion. The nearby Chavara Art Museum preserves articles of Church history.
