Shrinathji Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and the term 'Nathdwara' suggests the 'gate of the lord'. The temple was built by Goswami priests in 1672 AD. Merta was the birth place of Meera Bai, the staunch devotee of Lord Krishna. In olden days, the place was known as Medantak and was the capital of a ruler named Nag Bhatt.
