At a distance of 35 km from Ooty, Annamalai Murugan Temple is a sacred Hindu temple located at Manjoor, Tamil Nadu. It is one of the lesser-known places to visit near Ooty.

Annamalai Temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan and now is known as the 7th Hill House of the Lord. It was founded by Guru Krishnanandaji. As per the legend, Guru Krishna Nandaji was wandering in the forests of this region around 30 years ago, and meditating in a cave. It is believed that on one fine day, his inner voice asked him to build this temple in honor of Lord Murugan. Afterward, he performed the first Kumbabisekam ritual in the year 1977, followed by the same in 1989 and 2001.

The temple is laden with silver oak trees and tea estates, and thus, is a serene site to visit. Also, there is an observatory at the top of the hill for the public to enjoy the spectacular panoramic view. Hence, if you wish to find a place that is beautiful and serene, the Annamalai temple is to your rescue. Soak inside you the blessings of Lord Murugan and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

It also has an ashram for people and marginalized people. A ritual of 'Anna-Dana' takes place in the temple during 'Nakshatra' and 'Karthigai' days of every month, where food is distributed among poor people.
