At a distance of 1 Km from Mangalore Railway Station, Sri Venkata Ramana Temple is located at Car Street in the heart of the city. This temple is dedicated to Lord Sri Venkata Ramana (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu). It is believed to have been founded during 17th century. It is also said that Sri Mahla Pai from a noble family of Mangalore belonging to Gowd Saraswatha Brahmin Community of Kaushika lineage erected bronze idols of Lord Sri Veera Vittala and Lord Sri Gopalakrishna.

Along with the main deity, Goddess Sri Devi, Goddess Bhoodevi, Garuda Vahana, Shri Gopalakrishna and Shri Veera Vittala are also worshipped at this temple.

Mangalore Rathotsava (Car Festival) is the famous festival of the temple celebrated for 6 days in January.
