At a distance of about 26 km from Kollam & 48 km from Trivandrum, Papanasam Beach is located in Varkala, which is a coastal town on the banks of Arabian Sea. Varkala is the second best beach resort in Kerala after Kovalam. It is a good weekend getaway destination from Trivandrum city.

Papanasan Beach is a quite and clean beach. It is believed that a dip in the water destroys all kind of sin. Hence, people prefer this shore for their offering of VAVUBALI in honour of ancestors and relatives whose souls are in rest. After the offering of VAVUBALI, people visit Janardhana Swamy Temple and perform Thilakahoma pooja performed for the sublimation of the departed souls.

At a distance of about 10 kms from Trivandrum Central Railway Station, Shanghumugham Beach is a famous beach around Trivandrum. The huge sculpture of a Nymph (Jalakanyaka) made by the famous sculptor Sri Kanai Kunjuraman and a restaurant shaped like a star fish are added attractions here.

The beach is more crowded during the weekends and local holidays. Sunset at this beach is worth watching. The Chacha Nehru Traffic Training Park here attracts children and helps them to learn the traffic rules. During temple festivals the beach witnesses ritual washing of temple idols.

At a distance of 18 Kms from Kollam and 6 Kms from Varkala, Kappil Beach is a famous weekend gateway from Tivandrum.

Sprawls across 25 acres of land, the thin line of sand beach separates Edava-Nadayara Lake from the Arabian Sea. Swimming, water sports and Sun-bathing are famous activities at this spot. Boating is available in the backwaters of the lake at Priyadarshini Boat Club and Lake Sagar Boat Club near Beach. Dolphins are an added attraction on the Kappil Beach.

Kappil Beach is connected by bus service from Kollam, Varkala & Trivandrum.

At a distance of 59 km from Tirunelveli, 35 km from Tuticorin and 92 km from Kanyakumari, Thiruchendur is a small coastal town in the Toothukudi district of Tamil Nadu and is a popular pilgrimage destination situated in the Gulf of Mannar.

Thiruchendur Murugan Kovil is the prime attraction of the town. This temple is considered to be one of the six Padai Veedu (Battle Camps) of Lord Murugan, the others being Thiruparamkundram, Palani, Swamimalai, Thiruthani and Pazhamudhircholai. This temple is known as the second Padai Veedu of Lord Muruga. Lord Muruga won the battle with the demon Surapadma and worshipped Lord Shiva at this sacred place. It is believed that the temple existed since the Vedic period, as it is mentioned in many ancient scripts.

The main entrance to the temple faces south although the sanctum faces east. The 133 feet Rajagopura, built close to the shores of Bay of Bengal, is an outstanding example of Dravidian .....

At a distance of 16 Kms from Alappuzha Railway Station, Mararikulam Beach is a cute little known beach situated in Mararikulam village. It is one of the most scenic beaches in Kerala. This white sand beach is filled with several coconut trees providing unique appearance to the beach. This is one of the popular tourist places to visit near Alappuzha & Kochi.

The beach is about 3 Kms from NH47 junction (called Mararikulam-Kalithattu Junction) before Kanjikkunzhi, between Alappuzha and kochi. The NH47 Junction is connected by frequent buses travelling between Alappuzha and Kochi.

There are several home stay options just on the shores of the beach. This beach is safe for swimming.
