At a distance of 14 km from Bhuj Railway Station, Khamir Craft Resource Centre is located at Kukma village near Bhuj in Gujarat. A favourite place for art enthusiasts and shopaholics, this is one of the beautiful places to visit in Bhuj as part of Bhuj Packages.

Born in 2005 as a joint initiative of Kachchh Nav Nirman Abhiyan and the Nehru Foundation for Development, Khamir is an organization which was set up to strengthen and promote local crafts after Bhuj and its surrounding villages were devastated by the massive earthquake in 2001. It was started as an education, training, demonstration and interpretation facility in the areas of craft, environment and heritage conservation in Kutch and is supported by Government of Gujarat. It also works to enable artisans to develop a strong market and business orientation to source relevant resources for rejuvenating their craft sector and to forge creative partnerships within the artisan community as well as with the global community.

The vibrant campus of Khamir is active during the day with many workshops. Visitors can observe the artists at work, embroiders, block printers, potters and weavers and watch a step-by-step process creation of a brilliant piece of art. The crafts resource center also has a cute little shop where Mashru and Ajrakh fabric are sold in their finished form - beautiful shawls and traditional wear such as dupattas. The Khamir campus also has a guesthouse, where visitors can stay and participate in workshops and events held there
