At a distance of 3 Kms from Mangalore Railway Station, Bejai Museum also known as Shreemanthi Bai Museum is located at Bejai.

The Bejai Museum is the city's only museum and well known as a treasury of many ancient artifacts. The museum houses idols, paintings, metallic icons, statues, lamps and inscriptions made out of copper. One major attraction is the copper inscription containing the verses of Keladi Venkatappa Nayaka dating back to 1624 AD.

At a distance of 2.5 Kms from Mangalore Railway Station, Kudroli Temple is a famous temple in the city of Mangalore dedicated to Gokarnanatheswara, another form of Lord Shiva. This is the only temple in Karnataka started by Narayana Guru, the famous social reformer from Kerala. It is one of the top places to visit in Mangalore city.

This temple was built by a devotee called H. Koragappa in the year 1912 under the guidance of Narayana Guru. In 1991, the gopuram of the temple was renovated to Chola Gopuram style. The Shiva Linga is carved out of marble brought by Narayana Guru from Gokarna where he found it under water. The other deities worshipped here are Goddess Annapoorneshwari, Lord Bhairava and Lord Ganesha, son of Shiva and Parvathi.

Navarathri is the famous annual festival of this temple. The ninth day celebration is symbolic with a grand procession of Durga similar to Mysore Dasara celebrations.

At a distance of 12 Kms from Mangalore Railway Station, Tannirbavi Beach is located towards the southern end of Mangalore Port. The beach is the property of Mangalore port trust. This is one of the best beaches of Mangalore and among the top Mangalore tourist places.

The soft sands of the beach and breezy winds of Arabian Sea offer memorable experience. It is also a favorite spot to watch the sunset. You can see the remains of a ship which sank 15 years ago near the beach. This beach is comparatively deserted and is a great spot for safe swimming.

Due to the poor connectivity, it's important to have your own vehicle to visit this beach in Mangaluru.

At a distance of 60 km from Murudeshwar, 73 km from Udupi, 90 km from Jog Falls and 133 km from Mangalore, Sri Mookambika Devi Temple is a Hindu temple situated at Kollur in Udupi district of Karnataka. The temple is located in the valley of Kodachadri Mountain Peak on the banks of Souparnika River. Kollur is regarded as one of the Seven Mukti Stalas created by Parashurama and the other places are Udupi, Subrahmanya, Kumbasi, Kodeshwara, Sankaranarayana and Gokarna. It is a famous site of pilgrimage in Karnataka and one of the top places to visit near Murudeshwar.

At a distance of 2 km from Murudeshwar Railway Station, Murudeshwar Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The town was earlier known as 'Mrideshwara' and later renamed as Murudeshwar after the construction of the temple. Murudeshwar is famous abode of Lord Shiva and a popular pilgrimage center in South India. It is among the main places to visit in Murudeshwar.

According to the legend, Ravana brought the Atma Lingam from Mount Kailash. Lord Ganesha using his trick fooled Ravana on his way to Lanka and put down the Linga on the ground at Gokarna. Angered by this, Ravana tried to uproot and destroy the Linga. The broken pieces of the lingam were cast away. The covering cloth of the lingam fell at Kanduka Giri and the Murudeshwar temple was built at the site.

At a distance of 2 km from Murudeshwar Railway Station, the statue of Lord Shiva is the second biggest statue of Lord Shiva in the world after the statue in Nepal. The 123 feet (37m) huge towering statue of Lord Shiva is surrounded by the Arabian Sea is the major attraction of Murudeshwar town along with famous Murudeshwar Temple. It is one of the top places to visit in Murudeshwar.

The statue was built by Shivamogga's Kashinath and several other sculptors, financed by businessman Mr R.N. Shetty, at a cost of approximately 50 million rupees. It took about 2 years to build the statue. The statue carved with so much attention to detail. There are many life-size statues of Gods and Demons around the Shiva statue. At a distance of 16 Kms from Udupi Railway Station, Kaup Beach is a beautiful beach situated close to NH17 between Udupi & Mangalore. The light house situated on a hillock at the northern end of the beach is a beautiful sight to watch.

The beach is a serene place with nature's beauty in abundance. The 100 feet high light house was built by the British and it's a photographer's paradise. Kaup beach is covered by palm groves all the sides. Kaup is also known for the temple of Goddess Mariamma. There is also an ancient fort located in Kaup which is seen in ruins now. Kaup was once a famous Jain Kshetra and home for several Jain temples.

At a distance of 3 Kms from Udupi Railway Station, Udupi Sri Krishna Temple is one of the famous pilgrimage centers in South India.

The Krishna temple was founded by the Vaishnavite saint Shri Madhvacharya in the 13th century. This temple has a fascinating idol of Lord Krishna that is richly adorned with jewels & a famous golden chariot. The unique feature of this temple is that the Lord is worshipped only through a window with nine holes called the Navagraha Kitiki. The daily sevas and administration of the Mutt are managed by the Ashta Mathas.

Saptotsava or the Seven Utsavas celebrated in mid of Jan are considered as the annual festival of Sri Krishna Temple. During the Paryaya festival, held every two years, the temple management is handed over to the next Matha. Krishnashtami, Raamanavami, Hanumajjayanthi, & Deepavali are other important festival here.

Chandamouleeswara and Anantheshwara Temples adjacent to Sri Krishna Temple are about 2000 years old.

At a distance of 15 Kms from Udupi Railway Station, 65 Kms from Mangalore & 100 Kms from Murudeshwar, St. Mary's Island is a group of small beautiful islands to the north of Malpe Beach near Udupi. It is said that Vasco da Gama first reached this Island before reaching the Kappad Beach (near Calicut) while finding sea route to India.

The island has two beautiful beaches and crystallized basalt rock formations. The unique rock formations scattered through out the island giving a special landscape to the place. The rock formations are one of rarely found in the world. Eastern beach boasts of virgin sands, western beach is entirely made of sea shells. This unspoiled island is a very beautiful place with white sands, coconut trees, blue waters & pleasant atmosphere.

St. Mary's Island can be reached by 30 minutes boat ride from Malpe Beach which is about 10 Kms from Udupi. This .....

At a distance of 10 Kms from Udupi Railway Station, Malpe Beach spread between Swarna Nandi River and Malpe Port is one of the finest beaches in Karnataka.

Malpe is one of the most important ports of Karnataka. The endless stretch of golden sand, graciously swaying palm trees, the clear blue sky and the clean waters of Arabian Sea all set a perfect mood for an unforgettable holiday. Malpe Beach is characterized by silver white sand beach and rocky islands, which is still quite secluded and not visited by a lot of tourists. It is a great place for boating and swimming.

October to January is the best time to visit Malpe. St. Mary's Island can be reached from here.
