This is a seasonal waterfall in Wayanad region, but it is ideal for trekking. Chethalayam Waterfalls with its picturesque beauty, scenic slopes, and blue water bodies are worth the trek up. Its surroundings offer several vantage points for bird watching. This waterfall is situated close to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary which is inhabited by spotted deer, sambar, gaur, elephants, and sloth bear, amongst others.

One has to trek about 4 km from Kidangand to reach the falls. The Forest Range Office at Chethalayam issues visitor passes to the waterfall. Their permission is mandatory to get into the jungle surrounding the waterfall. One can avail of the services of a guide from the check post. Wild elephants, at times, pass through the area. For that reason, the Guide service becomes indispensable to this 4 km trek.

The falls may completely get dried in summer, so the post-monsoon season is the best time to visit the falls.
