At a distance of 15 km from Kalpetta, and 42 km from Sulthan Bathery, En Ooru is a Tribal Heritage Village located at Pookode in the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is one of the must see Wayanad tourist places.

En Ooru, or En Uru Tribal Village was set up jointly by the Departments of Tourism and Scheduled Tribe Development of Wayanad with a cost of 10 crores on the hillock. Spread over an area of 25 acres, the main aim of the center is to provide visitors with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich heritage and culture of the tribal people.

This initiative has brought immense joy to the tribal community as they now have a permanent marketplace to sell their produce, ensuring a regular source of income for tribal artists. Moreover, the heritage village serves as a vital platform for preserving traditional knowledge in areas such as food processing and organic farming, offering training programs in these fields. Additionally, the center generates both direct and indirect employment opportunities for many individuals.

En Ooru holds the distinction of being the first tribal village in Kerala and is comparable to renowned cultural centers like Shilparamam in Hyderabad, Dakshina Chitra in Chennai, and Auroville in Puducherry. The village beautifully showcases the indigenous culture and traditional lifestyle of the tribal community in Wayanad. One of its main attractions is the presence of 10 tribal huts, covered with hay, spread across two acres of land. Additionally, there are sixteen stalls that sell souvenirs and handicrafts created by tribal artisans.

The village also features an open-air theater with a seating capacity of 300, a felicitation center, a shop dedicated to introducing tourists to tribal medicines, a heritage pathway, a children's park, and a warehouse for storage purposes. Furthermore, two cafeterias and a Kudumbasree unit offering ethnic cuisines add to the charm of this place. The tribal village not only enhances Wayanad tourism but also provides a captivating locale for various camping events, tribal festivals, and food festivals that are currently being planned.

Private vehicles are to be parked at the Pookode Veterinary College bus stop premises. From there, visitors need to take a jeep ride to reach En Ooru.
