Winter Season (November - March):

Usually the city witness the minimum temperature of below 6°C and the maximum temperature hovers around 21°C. December and January are the coldest months in Amritsar.  most of the travelers prefer to visit the region during these months. A large number of tourists prefer visiting the city during this season to spend some quality time. Since the temperature scoops down swiftly right after sunset, carrying light warm clothes is advisable. Winters are also a festive time in Amritsar, There is Diwali in November. Guru Nanak Jayanti is the most popular festival in Amritsar which is celebrated in October/November, Ram Tirth Fair is celebrated a couple of weeks after Diwali where one can catch some good cultural and entertainment programs. January brings Basant Panchami and Lohri.


Summer Season (April - July):

The temperature during this period varies between 27°C to 43°C. The weather is warm during the day and gets unbearable in the afternoons. The weather is dry and sunny, and there is frequent water shortage due to droughts. Light cotton clothing is recommended. Apparently, it is not the season for tourists but the occasion of Baisakhi draws a lot of people to the city. Baisakhi is celebrated on the 13th day of April to celebrate the onset of Spring Season with traditional folk music, songs and dance.


Monsoon Season (July - October):

Monsoon could be a preferred time to visit the city as the rainfall amounts are not very high and the temperatures during these months settle at comfortable levels. But don’t forget to carry your rain gear, if you plan to visit Amritsar during this time as the downpour of rain could get messy. Most of the 780 mm of annual rainfall in the city fall between July and October.
