Paltan Bazar - History, Timings & Entry Fee

At a distance of 1.5 km from Dehradun Railway Station, Paltan Bazar is a famous shopping area located near the Clock Tower in Dehradun.

Paltan Bazar offers things like clothes, footwear, books, handicrafts and gift items. The market is famous for Doon Basmati rice and woolen garments. The beautiful brassware and sweaters knitted and sold by the local Tibetan women are also sold here. It also has stone benches to sit and enjoy the evenings.

There is Clock Tower at the end of the Paltan Bazar. This is one of the most significant and recognizable landmarks in Dehradun. Built by the British, the clock tower has six faces. At present, this clock tower is not functional. The famous English Book Depot is another highlight of the bazar.
