Situated on Udupi-Agumbe road, Kudlu Teertha is the first waterfall on the River Sita and among the best places to visit in Agumbe. Also called Sita Falls, it cascades down from a height of about 300 feet into a pool which is considered holy by local people as it is believed that sages meditated here thousands of years ago. Jogi Gundi Waterfall

Jogi Gundi Falls is a stunning waterfall located inside Agumbe’s rainforest. It is one of the best waterfalls in Karnataka and among the must-visit places as part of the Agumbe tour packages. Cascading down from a height of about 20 feet, the waterfall got its name from the saint Jogi who used to meditate at this place. The unique feature of this waterfall is the point of origin. The Jogi Gundi fall originates from a cave and runs through a hill, then merges into the Malapahaari River, a tributary of the Tungabhadra. The waterfall is about 4 km from the main town and the last 1 km needs to be hiked via a narrow and steep trail. Onake Abbi Waterfall

Just 50 km away from Udupi, Onake Abbi Falls is one of the charming waterfalls near Mangalore and among the top places to visit in Agumbe. There is only one branch in the falls and it is like ‘onake’, hence the name. Cascades down from a height of around 500 feet, it is one of the tallest waterfalls in the Western Ghats belt. Onake Abbi waterfall can be reached only by hiking 5 to 6 km from Agumbe and it passes through dense forest where one can sometimes spot animals like Sambhar, mouse deer, and civet cats. Visitors are required to get permission for hiking from the Forest Department.

Barkana Waterfall

Formed by the River Sita, Barkana Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in the Balehalli forest area near Agumbe, among the top places to visit near Mangalore. Cascading down from a height of about 800 feet, Barkana Falls is the 10th tallest waterfall in India, and among the popular waterfalls near Udupi. This waterfall is the source of one of the important hydroelectric projects in Karnataka. The name Barkana comes from the word Barka, which means ‘Mouse Deer’, which is found in the region. Tourists need to undergo a steep trek from the Western Ghats via the Gumbo Ghats to reach the fall. Part of the approach road to the falls is very muddy & only suggested to go by Jeep.
