Chelvara Falls is a natural waterfall formed by small stream, a tributary of Kaveri River. It drops from a height of about 150 feet into a big pool. The pool has a depth of more than 50 feet. The waterfall is locally known as Embepare, which means tortoise in local Kodava language. The rock over which the water cascades is shaped like a tortoise and hence the name Embepare.
The water fall is really a wonderful site as the water gushes from the rocks amidst the green coffee plantations. Entry permission can be obtained at the check post while entering into the forest.
The falls is huge and water drop into a big pool. Swimming in the pool below the falls is very dangerous due to the sharp rocks. However, there are smaller streams near the falls where swimming is possible.

At least 3 Kms distance needs to be trekked from the road after the Jeep ride to reach the first fall. The total distance to Kollur main road is 8 Kms. The final trek route runs through thick forest and includes rock climbing. The trek from first fall to the 6th fall includes steeper trek that runs through forest, water and rocks.
The top most waterfall is more gorgeous and worth all the effort. The trek time is about 90 mins one way and recommended for experienced trekkers.

It is the second largest waterfalls in Nilgiris and one of the best waterfalls in Ooty. It is also one of the best places to visit in Coonoor.
Cascades down from a height of 250 feet, the stunning Catherine Falls is a double-cascaded waterfall located at Aravenu. The River Kallar descends down the rocks as Geddhehaada Halla stream, to form the Catherine Falls. Also known as Geddhehaada Halla by locals, this waterfall is named after Catherine Cocburn, the wife of M.D. Cocburn, who had introduced coffee plantation to the areas of Kotagiri and Yercaud.
Catherine Falls is surrounded by beautiful views of forest, tea plantations and the Mettupalayam plains. The falls is clearly visible from the top of Dolphin's Nose and this is the only place where you can get to full view of the falls. Though it's not possible to reach the foot of this waterfall, one can go to top of the falls for a truly spectacular view. From a small town called Aravenu on the Kotagiri/Mettupalayam Road, one has to go via Moon Road to reach the falls. About 2-3 km trek is required from the nearest road to reach the falls. The journey to Catherine Falls itself is an unforgettable experience as one has to drive through the pine forests and lush green tea gardens of Nilgiri Hills.

At a distance of 16 Kms from Munnar, Power House Waterfalls (also called as Chinnakanal Waterfalls) is located near Chinnakanal village after Devikulam about 1 Km from NH49 (towards Thekkady - Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary).
Falling through a steep rock from a height of about xx feet, this cascading waterfall is a wonderful place to spend few hours. The stream is said to be originated from scenic & sacred Devikulam Hills. It is one of the best waterfalls in Munnar. There is a natural pool at bottom of the falls.
Best time to visit the falls is during post monsoon season. It is possible to reach the bottom of the falls by trekking down the hills. Swimming in the pool at bottom of the falls is a memorable experience.

Cascading down in 7 steps, Cheeyappara Waterfalls is one of the most magnificent waterfalls in Kerala. This is also a great place for trekking. It is noted for 2 acres of evergreen forests upon a huge rock. The rock is more than 500 acres in area and an ideal spot for mountaineering.
The waterfalls are just adjacent to the highway. The falls offer spectacular views with full glory during summer and it's not possible to reach the bottom of the falls or enjoy in the waters of the falls in monsoon.

Akasa Ganga is an enchanting 300 feet waterfall formed on River Aiyaru. The fall is enclosed with the dense forest which increases its charm and grandeur. It is situated in a beautiful valley surrounded by the mountains on all sides. The picturesque landscape created by the water fall is an ideal destination for the nature lovers.
The location is ideal for trekking and the breeze is pleasant. There is another route from Puliancholai, which takes about five hours trek to reach the falls. This route runs through dense forest and mountain regions. This trekking route is a difficult path and suitable for experienced trekkers.

At a distance of 40 Kms from Kodaikanal & 485 Kms from Chennai, Thalaiyar Falls, also known as the Rat Tail Falls is the highest waterfalls in Tamil Nadu and third highest falls in India. It is also one of the popular sites for trekking near Kodaikanal.
With a height of 975 feet (297 meters), the falls is visible from a great distance on the ghat road towards Dindigul. This falls is considered inaccessible to the general public, as there is no access road to it. However, one can reach these falls with 6 kms trekking after 34 Kms of road journey on ghat road from kodaikanal. The trek duration is around 2-3 hours one way. The trek is considered to be of moderate difficulty.
The very edge at the top of the falls has a concrete wall. One can walk along the wall and get near the center of the falls. The water here is considered polluted and it's better to avoid bathing here.
One can catch Dindigal / Madurai buses from Kodaikanal, get down at the ghat road after 34 Kms and trek down to the falls from here. There are no sign boards but can get done at the mile stone which shows distance to Kodai as 34 km.

Located far away from the hustle and bustle of the urban areas, this place offers you a quite escape from busy city life. There is a Shiva Temple which is situated about 12 km inside the thick forest. Devotees come here to trek up to Shiva temple in June and July.
Accommodation of provided by two resorts situated near the falls. The forests around this area have rich medical herbs. Pithukkuli Cave is another attraction nearby. The road access is available close to the waterfall and does not need much walking.
Agaya Gangai Falls is a five hours hard trek from Puliancholai.

At a distance of 37 km from Kalpetta & 12 km from Sulthan Bathery, Chethalayam Waterfalls is a beautiful waterfall located near Kidangand, towards Pulpally from Sulthan Bathery. Chethalayam is smaller and lesser known waterfall compared to other waterfalls in Wayanad.
This is a seasonal waterfall in Wayanad region, but it is ideal for trekking. Chethalayam Waterfalls with its picturesque beauty, scenic slopes and blue water bodies are worth the trek up. Its surroundings offer a number of vantage points for bird watching. One has to trek for about 4 km from Kidangand to reach the falls. This waterfall is situated close to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary which is inhabited by the spotted deer, sambar, gaur, elephants and sloth bear, amongst others.
The Forest Range Office at Chethalayam issues visitor passes to the waterfall. Their permission is mandatory to get into the jungle surrounding the waterfall. One can avail the services of a guide from the check post. Wild elephants, at times pass through the area. For that reason, Guide service becomes indispensable to this 4 km trek.
The falls may completely get dried in summer, so the post monsoon season is the best time to visit the falls.
