At a distance of 26 Kms from Kollam, Sasthamkotta Lake is beautiful lake and the largest fresh water lake in Kerala. This vast lake surrounded by hills on 3 sides is the source of drinking water for Kollam district.
Boating facilities are available in the lake by country boats. The lake is home for 27 species of freshwater fish including pearl spot, cat fish and two genera of prawns. The surroundings of the lake are being developed as attractive tourism destination.
