At a distance of 11 km from Ernakulam Junction (South) Railway Station, Thrikkakara Temple is the only temple in India dedicated to Vamana, the fifth incarnation of Vishnu. It is also the seat of famous 10 days Onam celebrations.

Thrikkakara Temple has about 18 important stone inscriptions dating back to 10th to 13th Century AD. The main temple of Vamana also has shrines for Bhagavathi, Sastha and Gopala Krishna. There is also a Siva Temple with shrines for Parvathi, Durga, Bhagavathi, Subramanian and Ganapathy.

The Onam is observed by all Malayalees as the return of the King Mahabali to Kerala. Colorful Boat Races are held on this occasion on the banks of the Pampa River.
