At a distance of 35 km from Manali Bus Stand and 29 km from Jagatsukh Village, The elegant Deo Tibba at an altitude of 6000 m is situated south east of Manali town and above Jagatsukh village on the Pir Panjal range of Himalayas. The trek to Deo Tibba Kund is among the best trekking sites in Manali and also one of the well known places for trekking in Himachal Pradesh.
Deo Tibba trek is pleasant trek that takes you to the grazing pastures of the Gaddi shepherds and the emerald blue waters of the Chandertal Lake (4,480 m) with magnificent views of Deo Tibba peak and its huge hanging glaciers. This is a spectacular view that haunts every trekker giving a unique experience.
This trek is suitable for all age groups with moderate level of difficulty. The normal route to Deo Tibba base camp starts from Jagatsukh, 6 km south of Manali. Jagatsukh is a small village, which is the last motor able point for Track to Deo Tibba. The total duration of this trek is 5 days.
The first stretch of the hike is from Jagatsukh Village to Khanol (6 km from Jagatsukh) that is located at an elevation of 2,200 meters. This trek goes along the Jagatsukh nallah upwards through green forests with an amazing variety of vegetation dot the way to reach Khanol. The Manali valley appears far below and to the east lies the mighty mountain - Deo Tibba. There is an overnight stay in camp.
The trek route continues to Chikka (8 km from Khanol), Sheri (8 km from Chikka), Tenta (2 km from Sheri) and ends at Deo Tibba Base Camp (5 km from Tenta). The trek is through thickly forested hillsides of Oak and Deodar, sprawling lush green meadows carpeted with a myriad variety of wild flowers and herbs. Chikka provides the best rocks for climbing in the area. There is an overnight stay in camp at Chikka.
The route is along the right bank of Jagatsukh nallah and passes through Sheri. Sheri was once a glaciated lake but is now a meadow carpeted with an amazing variety of herbs and alpine flowers. Along the trek, sudden appearance of Deo Tibba (6000 m) is breathtaking from Sheri. Overnight stay at Tenta (4180 m). The trek from Tenta to Chota Chadertal Lake (4480 m) at the base of Deo Tibba takes 3 hrs. There is an overnight stay at Deo Tibba base camp. The descend trek on the same route that you took on the way up, passing the campsite at Tenta.
