At a distance of 3 km from Manali Bus Station, Manali Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife reserve located at Nasgoi in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the prominent tourist attractions in Manali and among the best places to visit as part of Manali Tour Packages, especially for wildlife lovers.

Encapsulated with lush tropics and rich species of wildlife creatures, the Manali Sanctuary is proclaimed as a sanctuary for wildlife in the year 1954. The sanctuary forms the catchment of Manalsu Khad. It commences from just behind the Manali town and extends up in the mountains behind the hill station. A path from Manali log huts and Dhungri temple pass through dense Deodar, Kail, Horse chestnut, Walnut, and Maple forests to the sanctuary.

Spread in a massive 3180 hectares of area, the sanctuary is home to several animals like the Himalayan Black Bear, Musk Deer, Flying Fox, Striped Hyena, Himalayan Tahr, Indian Hare, Barking Deer, Palm Civet, Serows, Himalayan Yellow Throated Martens, and Kashmir Flying Squirrels. Endangered animals like leopards, Brown Bears and Goral can also be seen here. Herds of Ibex can also be seen here during summers.

Surrounded by a dense tropics of a varied kind, the Manali Wildlife Sanctuary is also embedded with picturesque natural magnificence adored by nature-lovers. The place is the ideal tourist spot for honeymooners who want to enjoy themselves in blissful solitude and capture some beautiful pictures forever. Apart from the distinct flora and fauna, the sanctuary is also home to fabulous trekking routes and camping facilities inside its premises making it an instant attraction for adventurers and thrill-seekers.

The best time to visit the sanctuary to admire the beauty is between October to February as the mountains would be capped with the white snow. But for trekking, it is recommended to visit the sanctuary in Summers.
