At a distance of 1 Km from Hampi Bus Stand, Badavi Linga Temple is another Hindu temple situated in Hampi. Located just beside the Ugra Narasimha, this is one of the must-include places in the Hampi family packages.

The Badava Linga Temple in Hampi is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is home to the largest monolithic Shiva Linga in Hampi, measuring approximately 3 meters in height. The Linga is sculpted from a single piece of black rock. Legend says that this linga was sanctioned by a peasant woman, hence the Badavalinga where badava literally means 'poor' in the local language.

The Badavilinga is found within a small stone chamber that features a single entrance at the front. This chamber lacks a ceiling, allowing sunlight to illuminate the Shivalinga during the day. Unlike other temples, Badavilinga Temple in Hampi does not possess intricate carvings. The Shivalinga is situated on a large circular pedestal within the chamber. Upon closer inspection, one can observe three eye marks carved into it, symbolizing the three eyes of Lord Shiva. The sanctum housing the Linga is partially filled with water, enhancing its mystique and spiritual presence.

The temple radiates a peaceful atmosphere, and its simplicity and tranquility highlight the Shivalinga. It draws numerous pilgrims who visit to offer prayers and request blessings from Lord Shiva. After their prayers, they toss coins inside, which are subsequently collected by the priests. It is believed that if a coin is accurately thrown over the head of the Linga, the thrower's wish will be fulfilled.
