At a distance of 4 Km from Hippie Island, and 26 Km from Hampi, Sanapur Lake is a picturesque lake situated at Sanapur near Hampi, India, It is one of the offbeat places to visit as part of the Hampi packages from Hyderabad.
The enchanting Sanapur Lake is encircled by impressive rock formations and boulders. This lake receives its water from the Tungabhadra Dam Left Canal and is renowned for its tranquil ambiance and breathtaking natural beauty. A vast expanse of beautiful blue water combined with a refreshing breeze makes this one of the top tourist destinations in Hampi.
One of the primary activities available here is cliff jumping or enjoying a coracle ride on the expansive waters of the lake. The coracle ride is both peaceful and soothing, allowing visitors to observe local birds and wildlife along the journey. The water is exceptionally clean, making a swimming session here quite rejuvenating. As one of the most picturesque spots in the area, tourists flock here to unwind and enjoy picnics.
This magnificent lake is located on the opposite bank of the Tungabhadra River, and it is easily accessible from Hampi by utilizing the ferry services from the ferry point near the Virupaksha temple to Virupapur Gaddi, which is just 4 kilometers away. Upon reaching the other side, the most convenient way to access the lake is by renting a scooter or bicycle. This method is the easiest way to reach the lake. Virupapura Gaddi is also in close proximity to the Hampi bus stand. Alternatively, you can drive 25 kilometers along the river and cross it to arrive at the lake.
The winter season is the ideal time to visit this lake. The monsoon season brings a touch of greenery, making it a suitable time for a visit as well, but the summer months are not recommended due to the extreme heat.
