Kabini is a region situated around the banks of the Kabini River. It is a part of Nagarhole National Park, famous for its spectacular wildlife and bird life. It is the starting point of wildlife safari in south-eastern part of Nagarhole. There is dam built on Kabini River near Sargur which spread over an area of 55 hectares covering forests, rivers, lakes and valleys. The backwaters of the Kabini reservoir are very rich in wildlife especially in summer when the water level recedes to form rich grassy meadows. During summer, animals in large numbers gather near the lake.
There are different kinds of accommodation facilities available near Kabini which include Orange County Resort, Kabini River Lodge, The Bison, Red Earth Resort, Waterwoods Lodge and Resorts, Kabini Lake View Resort and The Serai. Besides accommodation, the resorts also offer a number of facilities to its guests like Wildlife Safari, Coracle Ride, Boat Cruise, Bird Watching and Natural Trail Walks. A morning and evening jeep safari or even a boat ride down the River Kabini rewards you with sightings of herds of elephants, crocodiles and many hued birds.
Jungle Safari by 18 seater Van in Nagarhole National Park is organised by the Forest Department at entry gate near Dammanakatte (Antharasanthe range) on Mysore - Mananthavady road. There is no pre-booking or online booking for safari. The cost of Safari is Rs. 500 per person for Indian & Rs. 1,750 per person for a Foreign National & is for around 2 hours. Evening Safari starts at 3.30 PM & should be booked on the same day morning at 09:30AM in person. Morning Safari starts at 6:30 AM & should be booked on previous day evening at 3:30 PM in person.

Safari Cost: Rs. 500 per person for Indian & Rs. 1,750 per person for a Foreign National (as of 2019)
