About Narayanpur Sri Balaji Mandir


At a distance of 45 Km from Pune, Sri Balaji Mandir, also known as Sri Venkateswara temple is a modern Hindu temple situated at Ketkawale near Narayanpur. This temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of the Hindu god Lord Vishnu. It is an impressive replica of the renowned Sri Balaji Mandir in Tirumala, which has led to it being affectionately known as Prati Balaji Mandir and Mini Balaji Mandir. It is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites near Pune.

History of Narayanpur Sri Balaji Mandir


Sri Balaji Mandir, located in Narayanpur near Pune, was constructed by the Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group, founded by Dr. Banda Vasudev Rao (B.V. Rao), at a remarkable cost of 27 crore rupees. The construction of this temple spanned nearly seven years, from 1996 to 2003. This stunning replica of the Tirumala Temple was built under the supervision of the Tirumala Tirupati Temple Devasthanam. All rituals and services at the Balaji Mandir in Pune are conducted by priests from the Tirupati Balaji Temple, and visitors can receive laddoo as prasad, similar to what is offered at the Tirupati Temple.

Architecture of Narayanpur Sri Balaji Mandir


The Prati Balaji Mandir, located near Pune, has been designed in the Dravidian architectural style, serving as a replica of the Tirumala Tirupati Temple. Upon entering the temple grounds, visitors are greeted by an intricately crafted stone entrance gate. The walls of the temple feature carvings reminiscent of those found in the original Tirumala temple, while the interior showcases exquisite woodwork. The black stone and other materials used in the construction were sourced from Kanchipuram. At the heart of the temple lies a divine idol of Lord Venkateswara, intricately carved from wood and adorned with grey oil paint.

The temple not only reflects the architectural style of the original Lord Venkateswara temple but also embodies its spiritual essence through the priests and religious practices. Additionally, the temple is adorned with beautiful paintings that illustrate the life of the Lord. In addition to Lord Balaji, devotees can also find smaller shrines dedicated to other Hindu deities, including Durga, Shiva, and Ganesha.

Festivals of Narayanpur Sri Balaji Mandir


Sri Balaji Mandir in Narayanpur observes a variety of Hindu festivals that reflect the customs of the prominent Tirumala Balaji Temple located in Andhra Pradesh. Among these celebrations are Vaikunta Ekadasi, Ugadi, Sri Rama Navami, and Brahmotsavam, among others. Additionally, the temple hosts annual events such as the Padmavati Thayar Utsavam and Rata Saptami, during which deities are paraded on intricately adorned palanquins. Furthermore, every Friday, the temple conducts Abhishekam and Unjal-Seva rituals.
