At a distance of 19 km from Magadi, and 35 km from Bangalore, Manchanabele Dam is a beautiful reservoir set amidst dense vegetation at Manchanabele village in the Ramanagara district of Karnataka. It is one of the most popular places to visit near Bangalore.

Manchanabele Dam is built across the Arkavati River. It provides drinking water to Magadi town and surrounding villages for farming. This place is visited by a lot of tourists due to the calm, natural beauty, and serenity offered by the location. Manchanabele Dam is replete with cool and clear water. This dam is also surrounded by lush green trees in small hills that make the place look even more mesmerizing. The place looks spellbinding during sunrise and sunset as the different hues of the sky juxtaposed with the lush greenery and blue water is simply magical.

The destination is preferred by both nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts who come here to enjoy a wide range of activities ranging from trekking to rappelling, kayaking, and camping to various other water sports. A boating experience in this clear reservoir will rejuvenate your body and soul. The place is a great choice for organizing a fun-filled family get-together or corporate events. However, the reservoir bed is a death trap with sudden fault-lines, large boulders as well as deep slush. More than 200 people have lost their lives between 2006 and 2011. It is very dangerous to get into the waters in this reservoir even if one is a good swimmer.

The ideal time to travel to Manchanabele dam is during the winter season between October and March when the dam is full of water and the surroundings are lush green making the place look magical.
